Backwater Paddling Adventuresby Dana Kester-McCabe
The Eastern Shore has a myriad of opportunities for canoeing, kayaking and paddle boarding. Some of the best places to dip a paddle are our back waters: coastal bays, streams, and rivers.
These provide beautiful scenery as well as great birding and fishing. They are primarily flat water and therefore easy for the novice, though some have strong currents to challenge more experienced paddlers. Late Spring or early Summer is a great time to discover our eco-friendly paradise. Below is a list of prime paddling locations, outfitters, and events which offer guided paddling tours.
