Winter Birding

Inlet Jetty - Ocean City, Maryland
Pelagic birds feed on ocean dwelling fish up to a hundred miles off our coast but they come into our shores to rest from time to time. This makes the jetty in Ocean City, Maryland, a perfect spot for birders to see some beautiful and interesting birds.

imageYou can see such birds as gulls, petrels, terns, jaegers, albatrosses, shearwaters, loons, and grebes. Sea ducks, scooters, common mergansers and sand pipers are also common sites there. With parking fees suspended during winter months the Inlet Parking lot is a great place to stop and watch the many beautiful birds. While you're there you may even spot a pod of whales passing by or seals who duck into the resort waters for a winter vacation.
