Recent Paintings & Mixed Media Installation by Jinchul Kim, Guerrieri Center, Atrium Gallery, SU. Kim, an associate professor of art at Salisbury University, shows his work internationally, including Korea, Japan, France, Spain and the U.S. He has had 27 solo exhibitions in New York, Florida, Virginia, Maryland, Delaware and Seoul and over 300 invitational shows and group exhibitions. In 2008, he earned the University System of Maryland's highest faculty honor: the Regents Faculty Award for Excellence in Teaching.

These three exhibitions mark the culmination of each art major's studies at SU. The Applied Arts exhibition highlights student design work from SU's largest track within the art major. The New Media exhibition features a variety of installation and multimedia artwork from students in its track. The Fine Arts exhibition includes a variety artwork from the other tracks offered in the Art Department, including hot glass, ceramics, sculpture, painting, drawing and photography.

As part of the 2012 Juneteenth Celebration, the Academy Art Museum and the Frederick Douglass Honor Society are hosting a special screening of "Double Victory," a new documentary about the historic role of the Tuskegee Airmen during World War II, produced by George Lucas and narrated by Cuba Gooding, Jr. A panel discussion will follow, featuring original Tuskegee Airmen, and moderated by Vic Carter, the WJZ Eyewitness News Co-Anchor from Baltimore. Juneteenth, one of the most important African American holidays in the country, marks the abolition of slavery. The 2012 Juneteen Celebration will commemorate Emancipation Day, celebrate the significant contributions of African Americans in our country, and reflect on the common values that we share as a community.

International juried exhibition. Cold fusion often refers to the experimental process of nuclear reaction at room temperature that would provide an inexpensive and abundant source of energy. With no proven or duplicated results, however, cold fusion remains a science fiction. Expanding on this theme, organizers are calling for artwork that somehow creates a fusion of ideas, materials, forms or processes that results in something greater than its parts.
