Salisbury University - Salisbury, Maryland (Runs through: 05/19/2012)
Recent Paintings & Mixed Media Installation by Jinchul Kim, Guerrieri Center, Atrium Gallery, SU. Kim, an associate professor of art at Salisbury University, shows his work internationally, including Korea, Japan, France, Spain and the U.S. He has had 27 solo exhibitions in New York, Florida, Virginia, Maryland, Delaware and Seoul and over 300 invitational shows and group exhibitions. In 2008, he earned the University System of Maryland's highest faculty honor: the Regents Faculty Award for Excellence in Teaching.
Exhibit: Art and Photography from Green Earth Book Award Recipients

Exhibit features an amazing variety of art and photography from scratchboard to watercolors, cartoon art to stop-action photographs, to appeal to environmentalists of all ages. The Green Earth Book Award (GEBA) was created by the Newton Marasco Foundation in collaboration with Salisbury University to get more books with a message of environmental stewardship into the hands of children and young adults and to connect authors with youth.

Ward Museum of Wildfowl Art - Salisbury, Maryland (Runs through: 05/31/2012)
In 1987, the Ward World Championship Carving Competition introduced an interpretive category to the lineup of divisions, allowing for carvings that emphasize form, content, and movement over realism. This exhibit features paintings, carvings, and other sculpture rendered in ways that break from realism to provoke thought and wonder.

Cold Fusion
Fulton Hall Gallery - Salisbury University - Salisbury, Maryland (Runs through: 08/04/2012)
International juried exhibition. Cold fusion often refers to the experimental process of nuclear reaction at room temperature that would provide an inexpensive and abundant source of energy. With no proven or duplicated results, however, cold fusion remains a science fiction. Expanding on this theme, organizers are calling for artwork that somehow creates a fusion of ideas, materials, forms or processes that results in something greater than its parts.

Something to Crow About: A Cultural History of the Chicken

One of the most common and widespread domestic animals, chickens have been providing meat and eggs for humans for at least 5,000 years. In fact, there are more chickens in the world than any other species of bird. The exhibit examines the history of this staple of farm life and traditional foodways through art, archival photographs and ephemera, and oral histories and folklore.

In photographic circles around the world, Bodine was regarded as one of the finest pictorialists of the 20th century. His pictures were exhibited in hundreds of prestigious shows and in scores of museums, and he won awards against top competition. His photographs were seen in the Sunday Sun, numerous books and magazines, on calendars, as murals, and as framed prints decorating homes. The exhibit showcases a selection of Bodine's work in the Chesapeake Bay region.

Youth Photography Club: Field Excursion to Assateague

Young photographers between 13-20 who are looking to have the opportunity to share, learn, and expand in their knowledge of photography. The club will be visiting Assateague Island National Seashore, to shoot natural landscapes and other nature photography. Club members will meet at the Ward Museum at 9:00 a.m. and transportation will be provided. Bring a bag lunch.

Students ages 14-18 learn wildlife and landscape photography techniques and photo processing from expert photographers in this engaging day camp. Daily sessions include field trips and lab sessions. Cameras, a variety of lenses and other equipment provided by Nikon, Inc. Each participant will leave with two 8x10 prints and a collection of digital photos. Scholarships are available to assist with the cost of this camp.
