Cambridge City Dock, Cambridge, Maryland - Take a Two-Hour Sail on a Traditional Chesapeake Bay Skipjack Enjoy a two-hour sail aboard a traditional Chesapeake Bay skipjack on the beautiful Choptank River. Each sail is unique, depending on wind, weather, captain and crew. Our volunteers will treat you to an unforgettable experience of the age of sail and oyster dredge boats. On most two-hour sails, we demonstrate oyster dredging, giving a glimpse of the waterman's life on the Bay.

10/03/2010 - Above the Tide: Choptank Origins Paddle
The Phillips Wharf Environmental Center - Tilghman Island, Maryland - We will explore the freshwater end by kayak. Launch at the MD Route 287 (Sandtown Road) crossing for a 3-hour paddle to Greensboro. Includes shooting the low dam (head of tide) at Red Bridges. This stretch of the river can be obstructed by snags (sit-on-tops not recommended), but the fall foliage is beautiful and there may be wood ducks to see and hear. Led by Carol McCollough. PWEC is located nearly at the mouth of the Choptank River, in the estuary. BYO kayak or rent from Easton Cycle & Sport. Depart PWEC at 7:30 am, or meet at Greensboro boat ramp at 8:15, for portage. There is NO parking available at the launch site. Bring drinking water, snack, and dry clothes and shoes in case of capsize. Call to sign up.
