Wildlife In Season

Birding is pretty good all this month. Really - just get out of the air conditioning and take a walk and you will see something wonderful. Oyster catchers, skimmers, and brown pelicans can be seen along bayside sand bars and cruising the surf for fish. This is a good time for spotting herps sunning themselves like frogs, skinks, and snakes such as black racers, hog nose, and copperheads. Waterlilies are in full bloom in many local ponds. Black-eyed susan's, daisies and dune mallows decorate local roadsides and marsh edges.
